I am Femi Adebajo, A Choreographer, Dancer Art Researcher & Director

Femi Adebajo is a multidisciplinary artist, choreographer, and Artistic researcher, born and raised in Bariga, Lagos, Nigeria. Rooted in Yoruba heritage and urban experience, his work spans dance performance, visual storytelling, and socially engaged art often grounded in rigorous research and driven by a deep engagement with history, memory, and culture.

Through movement and embodied inquiry, Femi explores how personal and collective histories can be unearthed, reimagined, and archived through artistic expression. His practice occupies a range of contexts from stage and street to film, installation, and community spaces, merging research, lived experience, and artistic experimentation.

Femi has collaborated with international platforms and institutions including Adidas, Theater der Welt, Monster Truck, Company Christoph Winkler, Hektomeron Theatre Festival (Romania), Irineu Nogueira Dance Program (Munich), Sanskar Virtual Dance, and Tanzfabrik School (Berlin). He is a member and ambassador of KIN, a global network of creators, connectors, and cultural practitioners committed to driving cultural change through dance, research, and interdisciplinary art.

An annual community art festival celebrating diverse artistic voices and collaborative expressions.
• Gelede: Beyond Binary – Research Residency & Creation (2025)
A choreographic and cultural exploration of gender fluidity rooted in Yoruba traditions. Premiered in France.
• Zangezi Film Contribution Project (2025)
Premiered in Germany. Contributed artistic direction and choreography to this cross-disciplinary film project.
• Knowing Bodies – Research Papers Project (2024)
A research initiative examining the body as a site of knowledge, expression, and resistance.
• Uncovering Bodies Workshop (2023–2025)
A movement-based workshop first held at Tanzfabrik, Berlin (2023), and later in Cologne (2025), engaging participants in embodied exploration.
